Tax compliance
Your Tax Returns need to be submitted to a deadline, or penalties will result. More importantly, the Returns need to be completed accurately and properly. New enforcement regulations have recently been introduced which make the improper submission of a Return something to be avoided. Even if the "impropriety" is innocent, or if estimates or approximations are used in a reckless way penalties will be as a result. It is therefore critical that the submissions are approached by a person of right technical skill and expertise to give you the confidence that you have done everything you can to satisfy HM Revenue & Customs.
We are particularly interested in the balance between the exposure to income tax and capital taxes, where a minimisation of the liability rate may be achieved. We also have particular experience in dealing with offshore exposures, foreign nationals in the UK and UK nationals abroad.
Whilst complying with the legislation allows our clients to sleep soundly at night, we are just as interested in reducing the overall exposure. The organisation of a taxpayer's affairs to minimise the amount given to the state is a historic right, within the rules of course and we at Minford believe that it is our primary duty to advise you in this. We will always keep your affairs under review to ensure that you are not paying any more tax than you have to.
Our approach is to deal with tax compliance as early as practicable in the year, so that:
- You can plan ahead
- You can budget for any tax liabilities arising
- You can appropriate and legitimate avoidance action with a clear head, rather than in a deadline-induced rush.
