Charity work
Minford is a commercial operation, as it has to be to provide the resources for the development of our business (and yours), and the security of our employees. However, we do not see a conflict between our business activities and having a commitment to our nominated charities each year. We invite clients, colleagues and associates to become involved, either by giving a donation themselves or by supporting charity functions which we run or promote.
Over the past few years, the charities which we have supported and to which we have donated funds have included:
- Scope (formerly The Spastics Society)
- Age Concern York
- Mind
- Sane
- The Stroke Association
- The Samaritans
To all who have supported us either financially or in person at a function, or indeed just by publicizing the charity concerned, a very big THANK YOU.
Recent Exploits
A recent major fundraiser was an expedition for Scope which John undertook along with ten others to climb Mount Aconcagua in Argentina. His love of the mountains is well known. The three-week Aconcagua expedition however, was several steps beyond the normal charity “challenge” both in terms of seriousness and severity. To be accepted on the expedition, all members of the team needed to prove high mountain experience and a certain level of technical ability. Even though the trip was a year in the planning, it was known that decisions on the ground would be on a day by day basis in order to successfully raise the Scope flag on the summit.
